F- Child and youth care workers spend their time with child and young adults on their own time. They watch as they go through life's learning and lessons, their ups and downs.
A Child and Youth care worker deals with things that happen at those times anywhere anytime.
Other child services work on schedules in their own environment that they have set up for their work.
V- I believe that Child and Youth care workers would be a better way to help troubled teens and children because its within the environment of the clients. They feel more comfortable and relaxed to talk about the issues at hand. There is a book about a man who was a child and youth care worker dealing with unsettling issues and other issues called “The Child Upstairs” Joey’s Story
E- I remember as a child I had a lot of issues around the age of 11/12 because my father was diagnosed with MS(Multiple Sclerosis). I started to act out, started smoking cigarettes and weed, would try to stay out later than I was able to, and didn't like talking to my parents about anything anymore. My father and I were very close before he was diagnosed. And did so many things. Shortly after he was diagnosed my life fell apart because we weren't able to do the things we used to together. He was becoming mean and giving up on himself. It took a lot outta me and I rebelled for a long time afterwards. So they brought in a Child and youth care worker from REACH and she helped me to cope with everything that was happening and it helped to an extent. She took me to Tim Hortons or for lunch or for a walk and got ice cream or feed the ducks etc….

Occupation- Welding

F- Welding is a very high demand job. Welding is vital to our economy.
I- Do you think women can do it too?
I think a woman can do it but to an extent because it is harder for a woman to lift a 500 pound plate and hold it there to do whatever with it so you can weld it. But just to weld I think a woman could weld anything just like a man can.
V- I think Welding is a very difficult very high demand job for anybody to do. Its a very physically and mentally demanding job, and not everybody can do this. Its very important to our community as well because almost everything nowadays is made out of some kind of metal, therefore it will need to be welded together so it becomes one full piece. Playgrounds, ships, cars, tables, chairs, etc. so many things. Theres also a few different kinds of welding.
E- My husband has been a welder for the last 7 years now. Its a very difficult job, but pays very well. My husband has worked all these years to get into shipbuilding and manufacturing, so he can build the ships. He wants to do underwater welding now or get into seaspan for the big money. He absolutely loves his job and helps us as a family with our daily lives financially.

F- Sometimes people have an STD/STI and they don't even know it.
I- Do people care enough about STD’s to be careful and protected?
V- I think there are a lot of people in our world who really could care less about what STD’s are and what they can do to our bodies internally. Sometimes when people get an STD the symptoms don't show up for years until you trigger it somehow.
E- I had a friend who got an STD and she didn't know she had it until she had a peanut butter sandwich that made her break out. Now she can't eat certain foods because of this. Some days she can't do much of anything because it can be painful.

F- Multiple Sclerosis has many different ways of effecting people
V- MS is a very awful disease for someone to get. There are different kinds of MS. Some people can still walk but get extremely bad spasms in their legs. Others end up in wheelchairs, which is usually called progressive MS and eventually you turn into a vegetable and can't do anything for yourself.
E- My dad got MS when I was 12/13. Only took him a couple years before he ended up in a wheelchair. Its been a very long time since I've seen him stand or even take one step. He has a very difficult time doing anything. My father has progressive MS, which he will not get any better, he's only going to get worse as it goes on.

F- Children who are neglected are usually distant from that parent(s)
I- Can children that are neglected strive in their own self esteem?
V- Kids that are neglected by their own parent(s) usually end up crying out for help….to seek out possibilities to make their parent(s) see that what is happening in the home is wrong and if it changes things could get better before it gets worse.
E- When I was younger my dad was diagnosed with MS(Multiple Sclerosis) and it took a toll on our entire family. My father once in a wheelchair started to fall apart and give up on himself and become a complete and utter ass. He started to not pay any attention to me unless it was to give me trouble about something and nothing I ever did was good enough for him. We drifted apart and he moved to the states and remarried. I never really have had a relationship with him since because of this.
This was the song that I sent him one day cause I wanted him to understand how I felt.

Perfect

Hey dad, look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according to the plan ?
And do you think I'm wasting my time doing things I wanna do?
But it hurts when you disapprove all along
And now I try hard to make it
I just wanna make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
I can't pretend that
I'm alright
And you can't change me
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
I try not to think
About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be my hero?
All the days you spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you don't care anymore
And now I try hard to make it
I just wanna make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
I can't stand another fight
And nothing's alright
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Nothing's gonna change the things that you said
Nothing's gonna make this
right again
Please don't turn your back
I can't believe it's hard
Just to talk to you
But you don't understand
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect

Children and respect

F- Most children nowadays have little to no respect for anyone not even themselves.

I- How can we teach our children to respect others and themselves?
V- I think if we first show our children that we have respect for ourselves and the people around us our children will pick up on that and realize that respect gets you a long ways. Even though respect may be earned, everyone should have it. Everyone should be given the chance to give and receive respect from another.

E- I knew a girl who had a 4 year old that had no respect for his mother. He would hit his mother, yell at her, spit in her face, call her nasty names, not listen to anything she said, and even take off on her when they were walking down the street. She tried so many different things to get her son to understand that these things were very bad and nothing worked. Unfortunately when he turned 10 he beat his mom up so bad it put her in the hospital and he was taken away from her and put into a juvenile detention facility. They haven't seen or spoken to each other since as far as I know.

Childrens free crafts and activities

F- Some parents are too lazy to do crafts and other activities with their children.
I- If parents would interact with their kids more, do you think kids would be happier?
V- I think they would be happier if kids parents did things with them like crafts, board games, outdoor activities, coloring, karate….etc
E- I know when me and my oldest sit down and do anything together shes so happy and wants to do more and more, she's always asking me whether or not I will play with her, come outside with her, go to the park….do absolutely anything with her.
